Snelling Business Systems is this month celebrating winning a prestigious contract with Anglia Ruskin University.
The university is currently in the early construction stages of a new building for their recently launched Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI) on their site at their Rivermead campus in Chelmsford. When completed, the PMI building will house state-of-the-art laboratories and two lecture theatres with a 400 and 200 seating capacity, as well as seminar and meeting facilities for the medical and health communities. The aim is to establish the PMI building as a hub for medical research, innovation and teaching for clinicians from the East of England and the project is scheduled for completion in February 2011.
Snelling Business Systems was invited to tender for the high complexity, high value integrated AV systems for the two seminar rooms, board room and the two lecture theatres. The project involves an audience AV distribution in the 200 seat lecture theatre, room data displays and information screens.
As well as providing extensive technical documentation, the tender process also involved a presentation stage, which gave Toby Wise, Managing Director of Snelling Business Systems and his technical design and support team, the opportunity to outline their proposals to meet the needs of the university within the new building.
For the Seminar and Board rooms Toby and his team proposed short throw projection equipment, Interactive boards, analogue & digital connectivity, TeamMate AV furniture, Extron 7" touch screen control and Tandberg HD video conferencing,.
The two lecture theatres presented the greatest technical challenges, with each theatre requiring individually designed systems. For the 200 seat theatre they suggested a Dual SXGA+ Projection Solution, with 17" SXGA interactive panel, stereo audio system with DSP software interface, digital and analogue connectivity with modular matrix switching, TeamMate Tutor Dual AV furniture, an SXGA visualiser with preview screen and Extron 7" touch screen control. For the 400 seat theatre, the spec was amended to Dual SXGA+ Projection plus a third full HD cinema projector, 17" SXGA Interactive Panel, a THX certified 7.1 Pro Sound System with software interface, full HD video conferencing, multipurpose DMX lighting, digital and analogue connectivity with modular matrix switching, TeamMate VariHite podium AV furniture and dual operation touch screen control.
Each room also required a data display system, for which Snelling Business Systems suggested an energy efficient 6.4" LCD Solution with high performance PC. For the information screens, the team proposed Nexus InfoScreen Solutions, certified HD media players, and commerical full HD NEC LCD displays.
On learning that their bid had been successful. Toby Wise, Managing Director of Snelling Business Systems said:
"We pride ourselves on bringing strong leadership, expert technical teams and a service ethic that has put the client first since 1954, to each and every project. During our tender presentation we were keen to convey to Anglia Ruskin University that the AV solution we were proposing would be an exemplar not only for the University but a reference site on the national stage. We are obviously delighted to have engaged with them and very much look forward to starting work on the project.
Snelling Business Systems, which boasts 'Audio Visual excellence and operational simplicity', is part of the Snellings Group, which was established in 1954 at Blofield Heath, where they are still based today. They have been designing and installing AV systems for over 10 years and were Highly Commended at the 2009 AV Awards.
