Snelling Business Systems are delighted to announce that they have fulfilled the contract to install the extensive, groundbreaking audio visual requirements for a pioneering new art gallery in the heart of Cambridge.
The Ruskin Digital Gallery is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, with artwork in the gallery displayed in digital format, on state-of-the-art high definition displays, as well as allowing traditional hanging, generating maximum flexibility for the area. It is a unique exhibition space, with vaulted ceilings, light, and character, and the state-of-the-art technology blends seamlessly with the period character of the building. Located in the heart of the Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge Campus and surrounded by artists' studios, all exhibitions in the gallery are open to the public and free to attend.
The pioneering project draws on some of the industry's latest innovations, including the world's first Panasonic 103" 3D Full HD plasma screen which was specially shipped from Japan for the project and which was the first of its kind to be installed globally. The gallery also features a triple Panasonic edge blended projection system, a number of recessed Panasonic 42" Full HD displays, digital signage and an interactive kiosk. In addition, the gallery has been installed with Dataton Watchout throughout, enabling content to seamlessly flow from screen to screen via a dedicated fibre based AV LAN.
The gallery also boasts outstanding sound via an engineered Bose Audio System, as well as touch screen control surfaces and a purpose built AV Room to control the installation. As part of the work completed for the university, Snelling Business Systems also issued free software featuring gallery templates for Anglia Ruskin art students, to encourage creative content design and enhance the student learning experience.
Snelling Business Systems were approached to tender for the audio visual installation in early November 2010. Following a meeting with the client and their submission of a detailed tender document, Snelling Business Systems were delighted to be awarded the contract and they began work on the groundbreaking project in January 2011, after the Christmas break.
Steve Royans, Sales Manager for Snelling Business Systems, said :
"We are delighted to have been involved in this innovative, pioneering project. It is the first of its kind in the UK and as state-of-the-art digital technology and integrated audio visual systems are at the heart of the development, it has been extremely exciting for us to design and carry out the installation, ensuring that we can deliver the client requirements on time and within budget.".
The Ruskin Digital Gallery is now currently preparing for a grand opening due to be held on 9th May 2011.
