The AV Awards are the most important awards in the UK for the professional audio-visual industry and have reported a record year for entries for 2010. Hosted by AV Interactive Magazine, the awards recognize excellence in a number of areas including resilience in the face of a challenging global economy, remarkable innovation, new technology or new uses of existing technology. Manufacturers from all over the world can enter and the awards are independently judged.
Snelling Business Systems this year submitted themselves for one of the Awards' new categories - Education Project Of The Year Over £50,000 - for their work on The Thomas Paine Study Centre at the University of East Anglia. The company was appointed in December 2008, to design, supply, install and maintain the AV facilities for the new centre and completed the work in November 2009, on time and within budget.
The project included the University's flagship lecture theatre which features rich media web streaming and recording, high definition projection, the UK's largest Supernova Infinity optical screen, 4kw THX certified surround sound, fibre optic video distribution, LED lighting, and touch screen control systems. In addition, the building features a campus helpdesk with remote support, sustainable control and monitoring, comprehensive digital signage, content relay systems, video conferencing, as well as multiple seminar rooms with unified controls, multiple displays, and interactive presentation technologies.
Toby Wise, Managing Director, said :

We felt that The Thomas Paine Study Centre was an ideal example for entry to the new category.
