Brunel University Lecture Theatres Contract Fulfilled

1

Snelling Business Systems is delighted to announce that they have fulfilled a contract to install the audio visual requirements for 13 lecture theatres, in just nine working days.

Their client, Brunel University, approached Snelling Business Systems through the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC), where they are the top ranked supplier. The brief was to design and install the audio visual requirements for the 13 lecture theatres, to ensure that high standards of audio visual provision are in place throughout the campus for the coming academic year.

Based in Uxbridge, West London, Brunel University is a campus based university and home to nearly 15000 students from over 100 countries worldwide. Now over 40 years old, the university has recently benefited from a redevelopment programme to deliver an impressive range of state-of-the-art facilities, creating a 21st century campus for staff and students alike.

In their successful tender submission, Snelling Business Systems outlined a series of recommendations for systems integration and equipment to deliver the required lecture theatre refurbishments, including high brightness projection, interactive podium screens and touch panel controls. This system is designed to seamlessly integrate, and build upon the existing, extensive audio visual central control and infrastructure, already in place at Brunel University.

Once appointed to the project, the national audio visual experts were asked to deliver the project in a very tight timeframe.

Rob Beales, Project Manager for Snelling Business Systems, said :

"Successful project management was the key to delivering the installation for our client within such short timescales. It was essential that we fulfilled the contract not just on time and to budget, but that we maintained the exceptional levels of quality and service for which the Snelling name is synonymous. We had a very clear timetable for ordering equipment and completing each stage of the installation and obviously communication was key, so that every member of the team, from our technicians to our commissioning engineers, was kept updated with progress at all times."

The project, which began works on-site on 6th June, was successfully completed in the required period and the lecture theatres were handed over to the client deadline required by Brunel University on 17th June 2011.

Steve Royans, Sales Manager for Snelling Business Systems, said:

"Committing to delivering a project with such a short lead-time and deadline was always a challenge, as we did not want to compromise our reputation for outstanding project delivery combined with exceptional customer service. However, we were confident that the team, with Project Manager, Rob Beales, at the helm would be able to successfully fulfil the contract."

Sheila Egan, Head of Media Services at Brunel University, said :

The planning process and project management from Snellings re-assured me that they would be able to complete the project in time, and to budget.  The supply chain from various manufacturers was handled very well by Snellings.  During the implementation stages of the project all members of staff from Snellings were knowledgeable, very approachable, professional and courteous at all times.  We were kept informed regarding how the project was progressing against planned timescales at all stages of the installation, and any issues were resolved efficiently and with no impact on the project completion date. "

The new lecture theatre systems are already in use at Brunel University.
