Captivating lectures at East Anglia
The University of East Anglia's new Thomas Paine Lecture Theatre is not only featuring state-of-the-art HD projection and surround sound, it also boasts of a supersize 4.35 x 2.45 m Supernova Infinity display. dnp have chosen this impressive front projection solution as our March installation of the month.
The jewel in the crown
The brand new four-storey building houses seven centrally bookable seminar rooms and a 360-seat lecture theatre that all have been equipped with top-grade audio visual infrastructure by Norfolk-based Snelling Business Systems. The jewel in the crown is the huge Supernova Infinity Screen measuring 4.35 x 2.45 metres or well over 10 sq. metres. The screen is supplied by the dnp UK distributor Paradigm AV.
Stunning visual effect
Initially, Toby wise from Snelling Business Solutions showed the Supernova Screen in demo with different projectors and the University were impressed by the high contrast and the wide viewing angle. Head of AV and Print Services at UEA, Chris Browne, puts it this way: It is all too easy to run out of superlatives to describe the stunning visual effect that the combination of the screen and projector has created. You could be forgiven to think it is a giant plasma!
The logical solution
The Thomas Paine Lecture Theatre promotes learning by capturing and streaming lectures. It will also support UEA's public engagement and enterprise activities as well as providing outstanding conference facilities. The advanced audio-visual infrastructure incorporates a 7.1 cinema surround system and a Panasonic 3-chip 10,000 ANSI lumen HD projector with a long throw lens. "Knowing the different light levels we would contend with, the Supernova offered the only logical solution," Toby Wise says. "Where budget permits, and the conditions of the room dictates, that would always be the technology that we would specify."
