Following an initial appointment as AV consultants and a successful second stage tender submission Snelling Business Systems Ltd (SBS) were awarded the contract to design, supply, install and maintain the Audio Visual facilities for University of East Anglia's Thomas Paine Study Centre.
SBS are a National AV systems Integration Company and part of the R C Snelling group established 1954 and now administered by the R C Snelling Charitable trust.
The projects main objectives were:
- To create a new contemporary building containing centrally managed and bookable AV equipped seminar rooms and lecture theatre.
- To exploit advances in technology to improve the user experience
- To increase accessibility to material via live streaming, recording and delivering rich media content via VLE and internet.
- To provide HD content delivery with multi channel surround sound in a 360 seat lecture theatre environment
- To manage all new rooms and facilities via network helpdesk
- To deliver the solution within the overall project budget and allocated timescale
- To provide user training and ongoing support
The technical solution provided:
- Lecture theatre equipped with interactive full high definition presentation facilities including, supernova infinity screen, rich media web streaming and recording, automatic sound mixing with full THX surround sound capability, dual operation modes - user & technician operated.
- Seminar rooms with unified controls and equipped with multiple displays and interactive presentation technologies.
- Digital signage and content relay system.
All design work, engineering, planning, installation and programming was conducted in house by SBS Ltd. The project was delivered within budget and to plan, the inaugural lecture was held at TPSC lecture theatre 27th November 2009.
