BACKGROUND

On 6th September 2011, Bournemouth University will launch their new Executive Business Centre in the heart of Bournemouth, on the Lansdowne Campus.

The overall construction is a seven-storey new build, which houses the Business School's postgraduate and professional courses in Business and Management, Finance, Law and The Bournemouth MBA.

Snelling Business Systems were awarded the contract to install the state-of-the-art audio visual requirements for the Executive 6th Floor of the building, through the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium, where they are top ranked supplier.

AIMS OF THE PROJECT

The aim of the project was to create a building that offers the latest in business accommodation, spread over seven floors. This comprises a ground floor with cafe, restaurant facilities and internet area, a bold new paperless 'i-Floor' on the first floor, two education floors on the second and third floors, staff offices and research on the fourth and fifth floors and an Executive Briefing Centre on the 6th floor, with the seventh floor being used exclusively for the Bournemouth MBA.

It is hoped that the centre will increase the opportunities for engagement with the business community, embodying the university's goal to deliver academic excellence and a Business School of truly international standing.
 
TECHNICAL SOLUTION

The main areas of focus for the audio visual installation on the Executive Floor were the Conference Room, the Meeting Room and the Creative Lounge.

In the Conference Room itself a wall mounted 65" recessed full HD slim bezel LCD was installed, along with installed loudspeakers. To deliver the requirements for cutting edge business technology, it was also equipped with a Tandberg Full HD video 1080p conferencing suite, including an Extron motorized vertical lifting hideaway surface access enclosure. In addition, this room was equipped with digital and analogue connectivity, modular matrix switching, Wireless Crestron touch panel control, wired microphones and Dsp with echo cancellation.

The lighting for the Conference Room was also state-of-the-art, designed to integrate with the concept of the room, with discreet automatic sensors controlled by AV commands.

The Meeting room was equipped with a 52" Slim Bezel full HD LCD screen, fitted onto a tilting mount, as well as installed loudspeakers. This room also benefits from the installation of digital and analogue connectivity, as well as an Extron motorized vertical lifting hideaway surface access enclosure and a wireless Crestron touch panel control. Again, an integrated lighting design under AV control was utilized, with automatic sensors.

In the Creative Lounge a 52" Slim Bezel full HD LCD screen was fitted onto a tilting mount, complemented by installed loudspeakers. This room also benefits from the installation of digital and analogue connectivity, wired Crestron control and is enhanced with bespoke TeamMate furniture, including lectern and rack enclosure.

The Executive Floor was also equipped with 42" Slim Bezel full HD LCD screens and speakers, as well as Onelan digital signage players. In addition, all signage systems throughout this floor were enhanced with Web-based remote power and device control with scheduling to save energy and thus make the building more environmentally friendly.

The installation was designed and installed by Snelling Business Systems and the project was delivered within budget and on time.
